A steel transmission cooling line with a cut is repaired with SSF-6 and Heat Freeze Heat Paste (formerly Cool Blue).

The cut is just located within an inch of the rubber tubing, so to protect the tubing from melting, first apply Heat Freeze Heat Absorption Paste between the cut and the rubber tubing.

For this repair, we applied SSF-6 Silver Solder, using a Bernzomatic torch with propane. Watch as Heat Freeze protects the heat sensitive rubber tubing, while SSF-6 flowed into the cut, making the repair quickly and easily.

What size is this lead bend? Is it 3″ or 4″? Your replacement will be this size.
Will I be able to cut this lead bend at the stack? Will I have enough stub off the stack to clamp to? Handling a sawzall in tight quarters is tough but can be done. Most older lead bends are found in tight quarters. If you are some what handy then this will be the most difficult part. Everything else is easy….!
