This was my 1st time servicing a tractor. The professional service would have cost me about $450 plus tax. Prices keep increasing every 6 months so will be more later on. Think I spent about $275 doing it myself, including the extra transmission oil I didn’t have to change yet. Keep in mind that TN min wage is $7.25. So, here, $400 is a lot for a service, even though I know they would do a great job. Just wanted to tackle this to see if I could do it. When the 200 hrs comes up I’ll invest in the professional service.
If anything I did was wrong I’m not against you saying so — we all learn by making mistakes.
The services I performed on my tractor on camera are:
1. Wipe off radiator screen
2. Inspect air filter
3. Changed engine oil & filter
4. Mistakenly changed Transmission oil early
5. Changed transmission oil filter
Off camera I checked clutch, washed all corners of tractor body & tires, greased all necessary pivots/joints/fittings/etc, & fixed my new spinner knob on the steering wheel (it wasn’t tight enough so wrapped thin string under the clasp) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0zckvpgQKxmSDNKNlBkLXdVdWs
