Hi, my name is Brad, I’m an engineer at Maxpro Technologies. We manufacture high pressure test systems and I’m standing in front of a three circuit manual test bench that we
build here.
The system utilizes three Maximator air driven pumps, a L15, a L150 and a L150-2, and this gives us three distinct outlet ranges. Each pump has been equipped with an air
relief to limit the outlet pressure to less than is on the gauge here.
The unit is equipped with a pre-fill circuit on both the 16,000 psi circuit and the 65,000 psi circuit.
The cabinet has a light, controlled right here, and the unit features multiple bulkheads, mounted inside the unit and also on the front. This will allow you to test things
that are too large to get into the enclosure. We have tightened the fitting, we will close the enclosure door, and take the hose up to pressure.
We are going to want to make sure the regulator is dialed all the way down, turn the air on, and turn the water on.
You have three high pressure valves here, you have vent, the pump isolation, and the front outlet isolation. Be sure the vent is closed, the front isolation is closed and the pump isolation is open.
Now we will slowly increase the air regulator and observe the pressure build on the gauge. As you can see we have taken it up to about 25,000 psi, and we are going to isolate
the pump from the test.
So at this point we have the pump isolated and we are holding pressure at 25,000. We are satisfied with the test, we don’t observe any leaks in the chamber, we would consider
this a successful test.

The above animation shows how a Horne thermostatic mixing valve or TMV works to proportion the mix of hot and cold water to provide blended water at a set temperature. The expansion and contraction of the internal thermostatic element moves a slide valve – altering the aperture of the hot and cold inlet ports to the inner mixing chamber thus constantly adjusting the blend of hot and cold water.
Thermostatic performance of the TMV can be verified by conducting a Cold Water Failure Test as shown in the animation: gradual failure of the cold water supply causes the thermostatic element to expand fully as it becomes increasingly bathed in hot water. This expansion moves the slide valve to the fully closed position over the hot port and thus flow at the outlet ceases. If the flow does not reduce to a dribble, then maintenance may be required to restore the valve to optimal performance.
